Reverend D. L. Smith, is a native of Norfolk Virginia where he attended the Olive Grove Baptist Church. It’s there where he accepted Christ as his Savior and Lord at the age of 14. Pastor Smith has been in Church since that time, he has served as a greeter, usher, in the choir, trustees and deacons ministry and as an armor bearer. While serving the church all over the Hampton Roads area it was evident to the church community and Rev. Smith that the Lord had a “special call” for this young teenager to lead others to Christ. It was ten years later, September 1988 under the guidance of Dr. James H. McMearn and the New Jerusalem Church Fountain, Colorado that he answered the call to the preaching ministry.

Pastor Smith served the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri for nine years. Under his leadership the church grew in every way possible. Pastor Smith likes to remember the Wednesday Night  “Family Night” . Which went from 13 to 86 persons in 3 weeks, later grew to over 150 people on a regular basic. The agenda included tutoring for youth and adults conducted by the college ministry, several classes, dinner and bible study. After the 9/11 tragedy Reverend Smith was called by the Missouri National Guard to serve as Chaplin for the Soldiers serving the airports throughout the state. While still pastoring he traveled all over the state during the week to meet the spiritual needs of his fellow Soldiers.
Pastor Smith has had the blessed opportunity to minister in several states in America, Germany, Korea, Russia, Iceland, Japan, Kuwait, Iraqi, and Afghanistan.

Reverend Smith attended, Norfolk State University in Virginia, Nazareth Bible Institute in California, and has degrees from the University of Maryland and Texas.

He serves as Vice Moderator for the Southwest District of Missionary Baptist Churches, he also serve as the 1st Vice President of the Springfield Ministers Coalition, in addition to serving on the Executive Board of the Springfield Branch NAACP. Pastor Smith is a member of the National Baptist Convention, California Evangelism Movement and the United Christian Youth of America.

Pastor Smith currently resides in Smith field, Virginia with his best friend, partner, colleague and wife is Arlene. They have two children Chermera Yvonne and David Lee II. As Educator, counselor, minister and pastor, Pastor Smith is committed to the kingdom building of God in every way; to cry lord and spare not, the acceptable day of the Lord.
